Well, it's realistic, but not totally, u can't hear people running in a tunnel underneith you You can't? There ain't much ground between you and the tunnel on MOUT McKenna, so I wouldn't be surprised if you could.

Earphones give good sound, only if you have REAL good headphones. A 5.1 soundsystem in your room is better then earphones, I think.

I like the 5.1 headphones I have, gives a good idea of where the shots are coming from!

You don't need 5.1 Surround to hear where shots are coming from. All you need is a trained ear. After playig the game for so long, you can instantly tell where shots are coming from since your ears have been listening for so long.
It's impossible to play AA without earphones IMO.

I believe they are realistic in many ways but in others very unrealistic. On Mout for example: When a round starts I can literally hear enemy sprinting on grass opening doors etc. I can also hear enemy in Tunnels from far away depending if they are running walking crawling makes how far away I can hear them different. Realistic when grenades go off or flash's or smoke it depthens your hearing which is a very realistic aspect. Unrealistic my first comments about being able to hear people from surreal distances. I have around 100+ dollar pair of headphones bought them long time ago dont remember the price. Another realistic aspect is on certain maps say Urban or Hospital were back ground noise such as jets etc make it very hard to hear enemy from a distance even with my good headphones I cant pin point locations until say a 10-20 meter radius or just say close by. I think they ment to make it as realistic as possible but didnt take how high tech headphones and sound cards are now into consideration. Weapons Cache is probably the easiest map to hear people you can literally hear anyone anywhere on map and pinpoint location unless slow moving crawling etc.

Medusa 5.1 here... I rest safe in knowledge that I know where my impending death arrives from.. mostly.. lol Finally someone hits on the right area. I have heard a lot of people talking about hearing things all the way from the other side of the map. So can I. But my sound is not that good, so it's not that "ACCURATE". Accuracy is the key in 3D sound. If you can't tell if someone is walking up behind then what good does it do to hear things going on across the map? I would really like to have Joe(Dream) to go into some detail about his sound. I have watched Joe play many times. And he is on you like white on rice the whole time. You come up to a doorway and a flash comes rolling in before you even get to the door, lol:) So Joe, I would think, would be an authority on accurate 3D sound and would love to hear what his system, headphones or speakers are, and what settings he uses. So come on Joe, roll out tha dough, and let us know, how you get all those 1337 Killz yo! hehe:) Bro Jeff a.k.a.

Lol Jeff. I don't know about "1337 killz", though. But yeah, I tend to hear pretty well, so I guess I'm lucky. I have a decent sound card -- SB Audigy 2 zs -- and stereo headphones. I do have Creative 5.1 Speakers, but I only use them for music -- when my roommates aren't home. Here's a link to my headphones...they're nothing special. As for settings... 3D H/W audio in AA. I used to have my rolloff sound (User.ini settings) at 1, which was fine in the OG server, but I kept getting kicked from other servers, so I changed it back to the default.

I have a logi headset too, but only the 19.95 version. I would like to know, are there any settings you use with the SB Audigy that help with in game sound, if any? And thanks for the good "sound" advice. Bro Jeff a.k.a.

In Volume Control Settings for Windows, I have my treble at 95% and bass at 75%. You don't want too much bass, but a decent amount will allow you to hear footsteps around you a little bit better. High treble helps me locate gunfire easier. Of course, these settings are all limited by AA's sound...so they don't help a great deal, but any little bit counts.
